What is Thin Client Software?
Companion EnterprisEDI€™s Thin Client Software makes it simple to connect to
our EDI system right from your Windows desktop. Through the intuitive user
environment, you can access our server farm where you can either download files
of claims from your hospital information system or key claims directly into
Companion EnterprisEDI and incorporate them into each biller€™s inventory.
How does Enterprise EDI reduce errors?
Thanks to Companion EnterprisEDI, catching and correcting errors is simple.
Using its data entry screens, you can quickly modify or correct claims within
your inventory. Then, as a second line of defense, all claims from your
inventory are submitted for Companion EnterprisEDI local edits, payer-specific
edits and HIPAA edits, helping make sure your claims are correct. While clean
claims are transmitted to payers, any claims with errors are returned to your
inventory where you can correct and resubmit them.

Save time with Automated Eligibility
Companion EnterprisEDI€™s Automated Eligibility allows for minimal manual
intervention by automatically generating eligibility requests from your
registration system and sending them to a printer of your choice. Because
eligibility requests can be generated during patient check-in, Automated
Eligibility gives you on-demand eligibility. You also have the option to set the
system to periodically scan a census file or other input to produce eligibility
batches for your pre-registration process.
Automated Eligibility provides consistent throughput rates and availability
without the need to dial out. It also provides eligibility information from a
wide variety of carriers, including:
- BlueCross BlueShield (select states)
- Medicare
- Medicaid (29 states)
- Tricare/Champus, all regions
- Other commercial payers, including Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Prudential, and
many others
Electronic Patient Correspondence
Electronic Patient Correspondence allows you to send us your patient
correspondence in an electronic format, either structured data files or print
image files. Whether you want to send your patients statements, collection
letters, notification letters, or recall notices, we handle all the processing,
from printing to mailing, for you.
Electronic Patient Correspondence includes:
- Ability to review and edit each document prior to printing
- Automated address forwarding using the US Postal Service forwarding database
Technical Specifications
Client Server Architecture: Thin client software runs on
your desktop and connects to the Companion EnterprisEDI application server via
TCP/IP through your local network and our connectivity network.
Connectivity Network: Eliminates the need for dial-up modem
lines and other dedicated connections. All claims submissions, inquiries and DDE
transactions can be submitted through this single network connection.
Zero Latency: Companion EnterprisEDI gives you an online
response to each claim without waiting to €œbatch€ your transactions, giving you
a quick response to local, HIPAA and payer-specific edits. You€™ll also receive
real time responses regarding claim acceptance from payers who support this
feature
Multithreading: With Companion EnterprisEDI, you can submit
a claim and continue working on other claims while the previous claim is being
submitted, edited and returned to your inventory. You can even begin correcting
errors on returned claims before all claims submissions have completed.
Automatic Software Updates: Because Companion EnterprisEDI
uses the connectivity network for automatic software updates, you€™ll never need
to worry about installing new releases or fixes to your claims management
software.
Relational Database: Thanks to relational database
technology, Companion EnterprisEDI gives you ready access to your claims data.
Combined with the Custom Reports feature, the relational database gives you
multiple ways to report on your claims inventory. Additionally, it helps improve
claims productivity, biller productivity and queries.
