The flexible and accurate inventory
tool
To effectively manage your enterprise, you need an accurate
and thorough inventory of your PCs, servers, and remote/mobile systems. Thanks
to a variety of deployment and data collection options, Inventory Solution from
Altiris meets the demands of today's diverse network environments by gathering
comprehensive software and hardware data from virtually any system running a
Windows 32-bit OS. (Unix Module Available)
Works in virtually
any network environment
Inventory Solution allows you to
inventory everything from on-site LAN and WAN PCs to disconnected remote and
mobile systems. The fully configurable agents are simple to deploy, yet
non-intrusive to users. Our "Zero Footprint" option even allows you to inventory
your systems via a logon script, intranet page, SMS advertisement, or email
without installing or leaving a disk footprint on your clients. Or deploy a
fully configurable client or add powerful features like full scheduling and
€˜caching and forwarding' of inventory data.
Track assets on the
web
Powerful Web-publishing features make tracking and managing
data easy, turning any browser into a flexible and comprehensive information
system. Numerous prepackaged Web Reports allow you to choose from high quality
graphs, tables, and Office 2000 pivot tables. Powerful tools help you to create
active reports that let managers "drill down" from summary statistic reports
into greater levels of detail, and even prompt end users or runtime data filters
and parameters, allowing them to customize reports on the fly. And to ensure
data remains secure, Custom Views allow you to control access to all
reports.
Track inventory anywhere and
anytime
Inventory Solution goes beyond tracking standard
hardware and software information. By collecting Exchange profile information,
serial numbers, and MAC addresses, you can track where your systems are
located€”even if they've been renamed or moved multiple
times.
Running Inventory Solution
Inventory
Solution works with eXpress Notification Server. You install Notification Server
(what you get when you download Inventory Solution) and then you configure
Inventory Solution. Inventory Solution will work on any Win32 system - Windows
95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4, and Windows 2000. You can install the Notification
Server client and have it automatically schedule and run Inventory Solution on a
repeating basis, or you can simply run the Inventory Solution process on the
target system - via the network or even via a floppy. The inventory is reported
to Notification Server where you can see the reports and drill down to
individual machines. As part of the configuration settings on the Notification
Server, you simply specify if you want the Inventory Solution data to be
forwarded to Microsoft SMS.
Download
Inventory Solution You can run Inventory Solution on up to 100
systems for 30 days as part of an evaluation. You will download a program that
will help you setup Notification Server and once that is in place you simply
configure Inventory Solution from the Notification Server console as outlined in
the technical documentation.
