Take inventory and maintain accurate control systems.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of an assigned Maintenance and Operations Manager or assigned Supervisor, receive, prepare and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment for the Maintenance Department to assure efficient operations; maintain related computerized inventory control records and prepare related reports.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Warehouse Worker II classification is a single incumbent classification and performs a variety of responsible inventory support and distribution duties for the Maintenance Department. Incumbents in the Warehouse Worker III classification serve in a lead capacity over an assigned warehouse function and personnel. Incumbents in the Warehouse Worker I classification perform a variety of warehouse and delivery duties.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Receive, prepare and distribute incoming and outgoing Maintenance Department materials, supplies, and equipment to various District locations; prepare and maintain routine records related to assigned activities. 

Receive warehouse stock orders, pull, wrap and load delivery trucks; load and unload delivery vehicles; store materials, supplies and equipment in a neat, orderly and efficient manner. E

Monitor and update computerized inventory control records as needed; perform periodic warehouse inventory activities; plan storage locations and utilize space efficiently. E

Unlock and open the Education Center; assist in the daily operations of the Center as needed. E

Inspect shipments against packing slips and purchase orders; report damage, shortage or discrepancies. E

Greet visitors and District personnel at the counter; receive and issue materials, supplies and equipment; coordinate maintenance materials for special projects. E

Communicate with school and District personnel regarding the pickup and delivery of orders; communicate with outside vendors regarding pricing and status of orders. E

Pick up and authorize supplies from the main District warehouse. E

Maintain warehouse in a clean and orderly condition; maintain cleanliness of Maintenance Department equipment. E

Operate a District vehicle and a variety of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies and postage meters. E

Assist Maintenance and Operations personnel in the completion of general maintenance duties.

Supply and recharge fire extinguishers at District sites.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Use and terminology of requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and other warehouse documents.

Methods, equipment and materials used in general maintenance work.

Operation of equipment and machines used in the receipt, storage and shipping of supplies, materials and equipment.

Basic math.

ABILITY TO:

Perform physical and clerical duties involved in packing, storing and shipping supplies.

Receive, store, ship and deliver materials, supplies and equipment to various locations.

Operate a variety of warehouse machines and equipment.

Participate in warehouse operations.

Take inventory and maintain accurate control systems.

Utilize space efficiently and effectively.

Order parts and supplies according to established guidelines.

Assist skilled personnel in the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years experience driving light trucks in delivery work or in a warehouse environment.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California driver's license.
