Des Plaines, IL., January 1, 2004 -The POWR-GARD division of Littelfuse, Inc.
(NASDAQ/NMS:LFUS) introduces MRO Plus (Material Reduction Opportunity Plus). The
MRO Plus program was designed to help inventory managers at industrial
manufacturing facilities streamline their inventory and reduce costs through a
simple analysis of their annual fuse usage. It provides the customer with a
detailed report that shows how converting to Littelfuse products will allow them
to consolidate their inventory, cut costs and reduce downtime while improving
productivity and plant safety.
MRO Plus analyzes a list of on-hand fuse
inventory, identifies duplicate products from different manufacturers, and then
provides recommendations to reduce SKU's. It also identifies old or obsolete
products with inadequate performance to help plant electricians ensure that they
are using the most modern and safest circuit protection available.
When a
compatible match can be made, MRO Plus makes recommendations for replacing
current fuse inventory with the innovative
Littelfuse Indicator fuses.
Indicator products have a proven track record of reducing downtime and improving
productivity by allowing maintenance personnel to immediately locate blown
fuses. The Indicator's darkened window immediately identifies which fuse needs
to be replaced so maintenance personnel can restore production lines more
quickly than with conventional non-indicating fuses, resulting in dramatic
improvements on a company's bottom line.
To simplify fuse storage and
simplify a conversion to Littelfuse products, the MRO Plus program can generate
bar-coded labels for storage bins and inventory cribs with the appropriate
Littelfuse part numbers. These labels are available in a variety of sizes and
can contain the customer's internal part number and storage location, the
Littelfuse part number, product information, bar code and competitive cross
reference information.
MRO Plus was designed with customer convenience in
mind. Simply supply Littelfuse with a bill of material or an inventory list in
Excel format and MRO Plus will do the rest. The Excel worksheet must include one
colunm that only contains the competitive part number information. In the end,
the customer will have fewer dollars tied up in fuse inventory, less part
numbers to maintain, and better circuit protection in their facility.
