RPS, the Real Property System,
is a collection of assessment, physical inventory and valuation programs that
assists the assessing community in producing an equitable assessment roll. The
system allows the assessor to keep their assessment and inventory information
current. Using RPS, reports that are required by ORPS Rules & Regulations
and by the New York State Real Property Tax Law can be produced. The system also
assists the assessor in the performance of their assessing functions and the
valuation of properties in their jurisdiction.

| RPSV4 - This
newest version of the Real Property System was released for production in
November 1999. RPS Version4 is a Windows based system where the information is
graphically presented through an application developed using the PowerBuilder
programming language. Version 4 is easy to learn and easy to use. Behind the
screens, data is stored using "SQL" (structured query language) in a relational
database developed and managed using a product from Sybase Corporation called
"Adaptive Server Anywhere". The relational database facilitates development and
makes data access easy both by the RPS software and by other commercial software
packages. Version 4 includes additional tools such as "GIS" (Geographic
Information System), Image Management and Property Valuation to further enhance
the system and accommodate the needs of the assessing community. | |
