ATLANTA, GA ”PowerComm, one of the largest telecommunications
operators in Korea, has started operation with GE Energy™s Smallworld Network
Inventory* portfolio of products to support the rollout of retail services over
its Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial (HFC) and fiber network to provide internet services to
600,000 home customers in Korea.
In a contract worth over US$3 million through Phase1 (HFC) and Phase2
(fiber), the Smallworld Physical Network Inventory* (PNI) product supports 220
users to plan, design, construct and manage the HFC and Fiber network on a
Citrix Metaframe environment and support the call center operators through
Smallworld Internet Application Server* services.
With Hemann Technologies of Korea, GE Energy has provided consulting services
to replace the legacy database and application. This includes incorporating
radio frequency design capabilities and optical fiber management into the PNI
system to drive down network design and rollout costs.
Mr. HC Lee, ERP team director for PowerComm, commented, œGE™s Smallworld
Physical Network Inventory solution is the most adequate tool to manage our
company™s hybrid networks which includes HFC and fibers. Less than one year has
passed since the contract was to deploy PNI was awarded. It is now a very
important and necessary OSS tool to validate data integrity between databases
and fields and helpful to fulfill the customer business. In the near future,
after finishing deploying logical inventory from core to path management, we can
manage all the company assets through one tool base.
œWe are pleased that PowerComm chose to use our Smallworld Network Inventory
product after evaluating many other applications on the market, stated Dan Heintzelman, president of GE Energy™s services business. œOur products have been
successfully deployed with many large-scale global telecommunications companies
and this gave PowerComm the confidence to select and deploy our Smallworld
solution. We are looking forward to working with PowerComm to deliver a number
of significant business benefits.
