Locate Items Quickly
Inventory is the only way libraries can truly keep track of their items. But
inventory is a difficult, time-consuming project dreaded by library staff. Tech
Logic's inventory system is designed to help your staff gather inventory
information and locate items in your collection - with as little bending and
reaching as possible. Sweep the Wand Style RFID Hand-Held Reader in front of
items in a collection to create your inventory list. Generate reports that list
books and items that you're trying to find (holds, lost items, etc.). Attach the
pocket PC included with the system and easily find lost or missing items.
Tech Logic Inventory Control Components The Tech Logic inventory control system includes the following
components:
- Pocket PC and a handheld RFID device your staff will use to build an
inventory file. The handheld RFID device, in the form of a wand or gun, reads
barcodes from the RFID tags attached to library materials. When the reader is
attached to the pocket PC running the inventory application, staff members can
simply sweep the RFID reader in front of items in a collection to create a list
of your inventory. The barcodes attached to the items are scanned, displayed on
the pocket PC's screen, and written to a text file.
- Mobile Material Handling Reports can be generated by your integrated library
system that list books and items that your library is trying to find (holds,
missing items, etc.). The Mobile Material Handling application works as an
Inventory Server to convert these reports -- regardless of which integrated
library system (ILS) you use -- from your system's format to a format
recognizable by the pocket PC. In this way, the Mobile Material Handling
application accommodates different report formats generated from all of the
different ILS formats. The file server is also used to route destinations of
file locations and can send search lists generated by your ILS to the pocket PC.
You can easily locate items by attaching the Wand Style RFID Hand-Held Reader to
the pocket PC.
Inventory doesn't have to be difficult. It just has to be accurate,
efficient, and easy. |
