Homewood, IL — February 7, 2005 — CSG, an asset based provider of material
handling, warehousing and transportation solutions, has implemented a supply
chain management system from ADS Logistics as the engine for its Web-based
communication and inventory management system at its Port of Leetsdale, Pa.,
intermodal facility.
CSG operates multi-modal transload and warehouse
facilities with rail, barge, truck and container capabilities. The company
sought an efficient, real time solution to automate the distribution and
inventory management processes at its Leetsdale facility. CSG also needed to
communicate this information via the Web to customers.
ADS said that its
LoMaS solution provides CSG customers access to inventory management, material
tracking and order fulfillment capabilities through a secure link on CSG's Web
site. LoMaS provides flexibility for scheduling and receiving material, and
door-to-door inventory management capabilities through visibility to product
information from time of shipment through final destination material receipt,
according to ADS.
Using the solution, CSG's customers know exactly what
material is on-hand, and an inventory position report shows the estimated time
of arrival of in-transit products. Additionally, CSG's customers are able to
view and manage inventory, and they can initiate material releases using a
"shopping cart" interface.
"ADS Logistics was chosen because of LoMaS'
total solution, ease of use and ADS' expertise in the logistics and information
technology arenas," said Jack Goisse, a vice president with CSG. "CSG customers
now have access to their information 24/7, with increased accuracy and
simplified, yet highly sophisticated logistics and inventory management
processes for meeting their customers' needs."
According to ADS, LoMaS
comprises a logistics transaction execution technology solution integrating the
supply chain, providing visibility to material and connectivity between the
participants of the customer's entire supply chain. LoMaS can be operated
independent of, or integrated with, a customer's existing technology
platform.
ADS historically has served the metals industry, but the
provider modified its supply chain management application to accommodate
non-metal commodities, adding "shopping cart" load building and non-metals
commodities functionality for CSG, according to Gordy Gustafson, vice president
with the integrated solutions division at ADS. "CSG's need to accommodate both
metal and non-metal products gave us an opportunity to service our customer and
take LoMaS to another level," Gustafson said.
