Brightstar Awarded U.S. Patent for Customer-Focused Serialization Inventory Control System

MIAMI, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Brightstar, a leading logistics and supply chain management company for the wireless industry, announced today it has been awarded a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its customized serialization control system.

The solution, named "Integrisynch(TM)," was developed by Brightstar's internal technology team to meet the specific needs of customers in the wireless industry.

The patent, USPTO Number: WO 2005/045622 A2, was issued for "Serialization Inventory Control System and Method." The name of the system, Integrisynch, also received trademark status.

The Integrisynch system was created for serialized processes and methods, which guarantees the accuracy of serialized data and reporting on behalf of manufacturers, retailers, MVNOs, agents and the more than 160 network operators that Brightstar serves. The system monitors and tracks wireless devices through their lifecycle, collecting and storing data as they move through the supply chain.

Accuracy and quality are key components of the Brightstar created solution. Since commercial deployment, Brightstar has exceeded Six Sigma quality standards. To achieve Six Sigma, a process must not produce more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities.

"Ultimately, this solution saves customers and suppliers money," said David Stritzinger, chief technology officer of Brightstar. "With Integrisynch, there are virtually zero errors in relation to tracking. Customers never need to waste time tracking an individual handset or delving into a handset's history to identify warranty dates. Lifecycle information is contained in one database, regardless of the sales history of the handset."

According to Stritzinger, Integrisynch was developed because existing platforms did not meet the unique needs of the wireless industry.

"In the past, systems could not accurately track phones as they evolved, because the systems were not specifically created for the wireless industry," said Stritzinger. "Since there was no acceptable off-the-shelf solution, our team created one that meets the exacting specifications and requirements of our manufacturer, operators and retail partners."

Integrisynch is utilized at Brightstar facilities throughout the world.

"Our customers are continuously seeking more sophisticated and customized solutions for the management of their supply chain," said Marcelo Claure, president & CEO of Brightstar. "The patented Integrisynch solution is yet another example of how we're investing in technologies that deliver increased visibility, collaboration and flexibility with our customers and suppliers."

Integrisynch is one component of an enterprise software solution architected specifically for the wireless industry by Brightstar. For more information about Integrisynch and other leading edge applications built for the wireless industry, please contact Brightstar at 305-421-6000.
