Engineered Materials Solutions Inc. (EMS) produces clad metals, supplying the
appliance, automotive, electrical distribution, home ventilation, industrial
control, and telecommunication industries.
Challenge:
EMS faced
three distinct challenges if it wanted to maintain its status as a lean
supplier: Reduce bottom-line costs while keeping increasingly demanding
customers happy; communicate with customers who were requiring consignment or
vendor managed inventory (VMI) solutions, and be able to operate effectively in
diverse vertical markets that were using a variety of formats and communication
channels. The company needed to find a solution that could connect with its
internal legacy systems, as well as those systems from all the major ERP vendors
used by its supply chain. The solution also needed to support its electronic and
paper-based document distribution in many formats and languages, while improving
upon its existing formatting capabilities for labels, PO's, and
invoices.
Solution:
StreamServe EDP provided EMS with a single
platform to manage everything from printed output to e-commerce transactions. It
handles the intelligent preparation, transformation, personalization, and
distribution of communications across diverse standards and formats through a
wide range of channels, and connects to almost any business or legacy
application. StreamServe EDP added automated fax and email delivery of all
customer-facing documents - including PO's and invoices which enabled the
manufacturer to provide partners and suppliers with real-time information in the
format they requested. Furthermore, EMS was able to introduce online storage and
reprint functionality to existing business processes. |
