SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 19 -- OTN, a leading specialty pharmaceutical
services company and one of the largest distributors of products and services to
the community physician market, today announced the launch of Lynx Mobile(TM),
an automated charge capture, inventory management and reporting tool. Lynx
Mobile was developed by OTN specifically for community-based infusion therapy
clinic staff to help them more efficiently manage their inventory of drugs and
supplies and improve practice revenue management.
"Lynx Mobile is a
technological advance that will change the way community-based infusion clinics
manage their work flow with regard to charge capture and inventory management.
It is user-friendly and accessible anywhere in the clinic, and was designed to
be used by the entire clinic staff," said Chuck Bell, IT Director, OTN. "With
Lynx Mobile, our customers can decrease lost charges and lost inventory and run
their offices as efficiently as possible, leaving more time to focus on
delivering optimal patient care."
The web-based Lynx Mobile includes
functions for capturing charges, recording drug inventory and reporting.
Features include:
-- A flexible platform that is customizable to a
practice's specific needs -- A number of flexible hardware configurations
(e.g., existing PCs, a mobile tablet PC, Lynx Mobile cabinet and locking devices
to secure refrigerated drugs) that allow multiple users to access the system
simultaneously using an existing high-speed Internet connection -- An
easy-to-use application that allows multiple users throughout the clinic to
capture charges at the point of care, including at a nurse's station and in an
infusion room -- Full integration to OTN's ordering and reporting processes;
this automation of the ordering process cuts staff time spent reviewing
inventory and ordering online, by telephone or fax, allowing staff to spend more
time on patient care
"Lynx Mobile has had a significant financial impact
on our practice. It has allowed us to find, on average, three lost charges per
day. By allowing us to capture all drug and service charges, our use of the
system has resulted in substantial cost savings. We also have been able to
efficiently manage our inventory levels to reduce our costs and greatly simplify
our ordering process," said Sara Green, R.N., nurse manager/practice
administrator at Olympic Hematology & Oncology Associates, a full-service
medical practice comprised of five oncologists in Bremerton, Wash. "I and our
oncology nurses use Lynx Mobile daily because it is easy to use, convenient and
available anywhere we need access, including at a wireless station in the middle
of our patient treatment area. We are looking forward to working with OTN to
further enhance Lynx Mobile."
Lynx Mobile integrates seamlessly with
OTN's existing Lynx(TM) Technologies, which help practices streamline medical
recordkeeping, analyze data to ensure the highest level of patient care and
improve their billing process and practice efficiencies. These offerings
include:
-- Lynx Station(TM), an automated inventory management and
tracking system that provides automated drug and supply ordering, tracks
inventory, reduces inventory costs and helps eliminate billing errors and lost
charges. Lynx Station also populates OTN's proprietary Lynx System database, the
largest clinical database in community oncology. -- Lynx Practice
Intelligence(TM) Reports, which use Lynx data to accurately reflect patient
treatment and inventory information, improve analytic capabilities and reduce
reliance on paper reporting -- Lynx Practice Manager(TM), an integrated
patient information and billing management system that helps community-based
physicians manage the needs of their practice, achieve increased efficiency in
electronic patient management and analysis, streamline administrative duties,
collect receivables more efficiently and improve the overall workflow in their
practice -- Lynx Technologies Interface, which automatically transfers
patient information from Lynx Practice Manager or another practice management
system to Lynx Mobile or the Lynx Station. This automatic updating of the
practice management system saves the practice time by eliminating manual
re-entry of patient data. Lynx Technologies Interface also can interact with a
practice's electronic medical record (EMR). -- IMPAC Medical Systems'
oncology EMR, with which OTN has a preferred partnership
"Because today's
healthcare environment is increasingly complex and our customers' needs are
constantly evolving, OTN continues to invest in and enhance the systems that
practices need to succeed in this changing environment," added Mr. Bell. "We
will continue to enhance Lynx Mobile based on user feedback, and we expect to
roll out several additional functions specifically designed for the clinical
staff at community infusion therapy clinics."
